Founder and President
Certified Divorce Financial Analyst
Advanced Practitioner Family Mediator
Fellow, Collaborative Law Institute of Illinois
MPA, Public Finance, The University at Albany

David’s work as a Mediator and Facilitator reflects his passion for working with couples and families as they face the significant challenges involved in separation and divorce.  He serves as an intermediary, striving to create a neutral process that empowers his clients to communicate with each other in mediation to make their own informed decisions as they move on with their lives.  Where separation and divorce involves children, mediation can help divorcing spouses to build a durable parenting plan that acknowledges their need to remain partners as parents to minimize the impact of divorce on their children.

David began his mediation career in Albany, NY, starting as a volunteer mediator in a local community dispute resolution center.  After four years of volunteering on many mediation cases, David opened Upstate Divorce Mediation in 2010, providing family and divorce mediation services.  In 2013, David was designated as an Advanced Practitioner Family Mediator by the Association for Conflict Resolution, and later that year, he also became a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst.  As a family and divorce mediator, David has worked with hundreds of families.

In 2016, David and his wife moved to Chicago, IL and opened Louis Mediation Services – Chicago, LLC, in the hopes of extending his passion for mediation to his new home city.  Since arriving in Chicago, David has been accepted as a Fellow in the Collaborative Law Institute of Illinois, where he participates as a Collaborative Divorce Professional, both as a Financial Neutral and as a Neutral Facilitator.  David has also received extensive training as a Conflict Coach, where he coaches individuals in managing current conflicts in workplace and personal relationships.

David has previously served on the Board of Directors for the following dispute resolution organizations:

  • New York State Council on Divorce Mediation (Treasurer and Board Member)
  • New York State Dispute Resolution Association (Treasurer and Board Member)
  • Collaborative Divorce Association of the Capital District (Treasurer and Board Member)

During the period from  2006-2016, David generously donated his time as a volunteer mediator for Family Court referred cases at several Community Dispute Resolution Centers in Upstate New York.
